The latest fugitive in the streets of Los Angeles, USA is not a person but a bacon-wrapped hot dog. Selling of bacon-wrapped hot dogs has already been banned by the Department of Public Health simply because it is a dreadful food that can clog your arteries. I wonder if there isn’t any other food that does the same equally. Obviously, there are many other foods that can cause you the same high cholesterol and fats. However, the bacon-wrapped hotdog is one of the first to be banned in the city.
People are raising their eyebrows on why the L.A. police have been focusing on such a delicious food rather than looking on other more important things. Perhaps L.A. is running out of violent crimes that people are looking into banning bacon-wrapped hotdogs. The city must be a very serene place to live in that the police have run out of things to do. Now, police are raiding the street carts that are owned by private hot dog sellers and throwing them out in the garbage. So how can they justify such a ban? The L.A. County Health Department’s Terrence Powell said “bacon is a potentially hazardous food.” But does that mean that if the vendor is only selling hotdog or just bacon, then it is okay? Apparently, only the bacon-wrapped hotdog is banned. Powell was asked how many people got sick from the said hazardous food. He simply responded with “That’s kind of a nebulous number.”
Now this will even confuse you, because apparently, it is not entirely banned. Vendors can still sell the hazardous food if an only if they purchase the new street cart that costs $26,000. So it’s like saying hazardous foods can be sold if they come in an expensive cart. The value of that cart is indeed too high for such a small street vending business. Some vendors were asked what they would do if they cannot afford the cart. Well, it just looks like they will go on with the black market bacon trade while they defy the ongoing bacon war.
